In the rather stunning news. FightZoneNews.com has learned that Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will face Britain’s Rocky Fielding for the Englishman’s WBA ‘regular’ world super-middleweight title on December 15th at Madison Square Garden, New York City. Fielding’s promoter, Eddie Hearn confirmed the fight on his Twitter account moments ago.

It is fair to say that this has taken everyone by surprise. The talk of the town was that Canelo would fight former IBF world middleweight champion, David Lemieux. Canelo, of course, is coming off of the biggest win of his career. Wrestling the WBC and WBA, as well as the RING magazine world middleweight titles away from Gennady Golovkin last month in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fielding won the title via a fifth-round TKO victory over Tyrone Zeuge which saw the man from Liverpool travel to the champion’s home country of Germany and pull off an upset victory.
Whilst it has not been confirmed. This fight in all likelihood will end up on the DAZN platform. Canelo fought the last fight of his deal with HBO in his victory over Golovkin. News broke earlier this month that the TV Network was pulling out of boxing altogether. Fielding is a Matchroom fighter. I’m putting two and two together and hopefully making four. Of course, FightZoneNews.com will confirm this as and when we have news.
