Promoter Eddie Hearn has told reporters that he has upped the offer to World Boxing Council (WBC) Deontay Wilder to face unified heavyweight titlist Anthony Joshua. Hearn wants the bout to take place in April at Wembley Stadium in London. The new offer is now a percentage plus a guarantee said Hearn although the exact numbers weren’t revealed. He previously offered Wilder a flat fee for the bout. Wilder is scheduled to put his title on the line against Tyson Fury on December 1st in Los Angeles.
Joe Joyce’s manager, Sam Jones, has confirmed that an offer has been made to Gerald Washington. If Washington decides to sign the contract the bout will take place on December 1st as part of the undercard of the heavyweight showdown between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.
As previously reported by FightZoneNews.com an all Australian matchup between Jeff Horn and Anthony Mudine is now done. The bout will be at a catchweight of 156.5 pounds in Brisbaine, Australia. The venue for the bout will be Suncorp Stadium. It will be Horn’s first bout since losing his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title to Terence Crawford earlier this year.
The WBC has had quite a busy day, mandating quite a few bouts. They have ordered that Andrew Selby face Julio Cesar Martinez in a final eliminator. The winner will become the mandatory to flyweight titlist Cristofer Rosales.
Eddie Hearn is now stating that a deal is in place for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr to sign today, if he wants his rematch against Sergio Martinez. However, it is up to Chavez as he is currently in negotiations to appear on the undercard of the Wilder and Fury heavyweight showdown. The rumored opponent for Chavez is Alfredo Angulo.
World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight titlist Dmitry Bivol has stated that he is willing to drop down in weight to face Callum Smith, for his super middleweight titles. He also is willing to have Smith come up in weight to challenge him for his title. Bivol defeated Smith when they were amateurs back in 2012.
