Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn just revealed to talkSPORT he has a meeting scheduled with Amir Khan (33-4, 20 KOs) tomorrow to talk about what is next for him. Hearn added that after speaking with Pacquiao’s team yesterday, he believes a bout vs. rival “Special K” Kell Brook would be much easier to get done.
Khan last appeared in ring action over the weekend. The 31-year old Bolton-based boxer scored a unanimous decision win over Canadian Samuel Vargas at Arena Birmingham Saturday night. He previously had recorded a technical knockout of Phil Lo Greco at Echo Arena in Liverpool five months ago. Which marks two straight wins after being stretched out by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez within 5 in a middleweight title challenge spring of 2016.
Pacquiao’s prior appearance was in mid-July where he registered a seventh round stoppage of Lucas Matthysse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Pac-Man picked up a WBA regular welterweight belt in the process. The Filipino Senator also has a new beef with Top Rank boss Bob Arum. Pacquiao declared his intention to file suit against Arum on Monday over broadcasting rights fees in the U.S. that he believes he is owed. Recently he has broken off on his own, staging his most recent match under a MP Promotions banner.
Brook (37-2, 26 KOs) has been out of action since March of this year. The Sheffield sweet scientist returned nearly 10 months following a crushing defeat by Errol Spence Jr. at Bramall Lane. Spence took his IBF 147 pound title as well. Follow us at FightZoneNews.com for any more information as it comes.
