Keith Thurman to finally return in December? Well, there’s a possibility that Thurman will be on the undercard of the heavyweight title bout of Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury in December. The WBA welterweight titlist has been out of action for quite sometime now.
He was last in the ring against Danny Garcia in March of 2017, winning a split decision victory and picking up the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title. However, the celebration was short lived as Thurman suffered an elbow injury in the bout that has sidelined him since.
The injury eventually caused him to vacate the WBC title, one that he never got to defend. He has been rumored to be returning for quite sometime but setbacks with his injury has forced him to remain on the shelf. Thurman is still the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight titlist, and just watched Shawn Porter pick up the vacant WBC title over the weekend.
The WBC has promised Thurman a title shot as soon as he’s ready. Can we see Keith Thurman in December? Can he reclaim his top spot in the division? All legitimate questions as Terence “Bud” Crawford and Errol Spence Jr have bursted onto the welterweight scene looking to dethrone Thurman.
Don’t expect a tough opponent as he is simply working his way back, and time will tell when we can see him against a top notch talent within the division. FightZoneNews.com will monitor the situation and have an update as soon as one becomes available.
