WBC heavyweight belt holder Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) just made some eye-opening comments regarding rival Dominic Breazeale (19-1, 17 KOs). The Alabama native was replying to accusations that he was unwilling to face Breazeale. Among his comments about Breazeale were “I’m gonna make sure he brings his sons up on the stage to look the man in the eye that’s going to cripple his daddy”.
The heavy hitters have a history between them dating back to February of last year. An altercation happened after they both appeared on a card together in Birmingham, Alabama. That became nearly a full-on brawl. Breazeale then later filed suit against Wilder and his brother as well as Marriott International, site of the conflict. Wilder has refuted Breazeale’s version of events.
Wilder now aiming for a mega-match with ex-titlist Tyson Fury (26-0, 19 KOs). Fury next appearing on August 18th vs. Kevin Johnson at Windsor Park in Belfast. Wilder coming off a March technical knockout win over Luis Ortiz. Breazeale’s lone defeat was by 7th round TKO to future unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in 2016.
